Blotto Max RTA Review – Big, Bold, and Just... Okay?

Hey folks, the Old Goat here — digging into something that’s been sitting on the shelf long enough to earn some dust and a second look. I’m talking about the Blotto Max from DOVPO and Sam the Vaping Bogan. When this tank first hit the scene, it made a loud entrance: massive airflow, big build deck, oversized juice capacity — the works. And it’s still kicking around today, popping up in sales bins and secondhand groups, so I figured it’s time for a proper write-up.

I’ve built it, rebuilt it, run all kinds of juice through it, and here’s the honest verdict: it’s a decent tank. But it’s not the flavour monster some folks made it out to be. So let’s dig in.

Build Quality: Built Like a Keg

First things first — the Blotto Max is built solid. You can feel it when you unbox it. Thick stainless steel, clean threading, heavy in the hand. Everything fits together like it should, and you don’t get any of the cheap-feeling tolerances that plague some of the newer “budget” RTAs out there.

The knurled top cap and airflow ring have a nice grip to them, and the resin drip tip (while not to everyone's taste) feels good on the lips and adds a bit of flair. It’s well-machined, no question. But it’s also a beast of a tank. Tall, wide, and heavy — it’s not winning any awards for sleek design.

Stick this on a small mod, and it’s going to look like it skipped leg day. It’s clearly made with chunkier dual-battery setups in mind.

Deck & Building: Spacious and Forgiving

Now here’s where the Blotto Max shines a bit brighter. The postless deck is roomy, easy to work with, and clearly intended for dual coils. You can run a single coil in it, sure — but you’ll be wasting space and airflow potential. This thing wants to be stuffed full of chunky aliens or fused Claptons.

Coil placement is simple, and the airflow design wraps around the coil from the bottom and sides, which in theory should boost flavour. The wicking channels are deep and wide, making it hard to mess up unless you try to shove a pillow's worth of cotton in there.

Wicking & Juice Flow: No Fuss, No Flood

Wicking the Blotto Max is as straightforward as it gets. Trim your tails to the edge of the deck, fluff them lightly, and tuck them into the juice wells. That’s it. If you’ve ever wicked an RTA before, this will feel familiar — and if you haven’t, it’s a good one to learn on. It’s forgiving, doesn’t leak unless you truly botch the job, and doesn’t require any voodoo rituals to get the wicking just right.

Juice flow is solid. It wicks thick, high-VG juices just fine, even under higher wattage. And with a generous capacity (6.5ml with the bubble glass), it goes the distance between refills — though not by much if you’re chain-vaping a dual coil setup at 80 watts.

Flavour Performance: Temper Your Expectations

Alright, now for the part that surprised me — the flavour is just okay.

Not bad. Not muted. But definitely not top-tier.

With all that airflow and a well-wrapped deck, I expected the Blotto Max to punch like a heavyweight. But what I got was a bit more... polite. Vapour is thick and smooth, sure. Airflow is wide and adjustable — from restricted lung to fully open barn door. But flavour-wise, it doesn’t quite pop. It’s broad and warm, but not as defined or saturated as I’d like.

Bakery vapes and custards come through decently, but fruits and brighter profiles tend to feel a little washed out. If you’re chasing dense, flavour-forward hits like you get from a good RDA or even some modern RTAs like the Blaze Pro, this won’t quite hit the same way.

It’s more of a comfort vape than a flavour banger. A tank you fill and puff on all day without thinking too hard about it. And maybe that’s not a bad thing.

Top Fill & Everyday Use: Clean and Easy

Top-fill is dead simple: unscrew the cap, fill through the wide kidney slots, screw it back down. No mess, no leaks, no drama. You’ll be doing it often if you vape at higher wattages, but that’s the trade-off for a dual-coil fog machine.

In terms of day-to-day use, it’s reliable. Doesn’t leak, doesn’t gurgle, doesn’t surprise you with random dry hits — provided you wick properly. The airflow control ring turns smoothly and doesn’t get stuck. Everything just works, and that’s something I can respect.

Final Verdict: The Big Blotto That Almost Delivered

So here’s the bottom line, folks: the Blotto Max is a solid, reliable RTA that doesn’t quite live up to its name when it comes to flavour. It’s got the size, the build quality, and the airflow, but the flavour output — while perfectly serviceable — just doesn’t justify the “Max” hype.

Still, if you’re after a no-nonsense tank with room to build, smooth airflow, and enough juice capacity to last a good while, it does the job. It’s a good everyday workhorse RTA, especially if you like to build big and run hot.

Just don’t expect your juice to sing opera — it’s more of a background hum.

Pros

Tough, solid build

Huge build deck with easy coil installs

Smooth, adjustable airflow

Top-fill and leak-resistant design

Big juice capacity

Cons

Flavour is just okay, not outstanding

Very large and top-heavy on smaller mods

Drinks e-liquid fast with dual builds

Still using your Blotto Max? Got a secret coil setup that makes it shine? Let me know in the comments — I’m always open to second chances... even for big tanks with average flavour.
