🐐 YachtVape Eclipse RTA – Still the GOAT of Single-Coil Flavour

There are tanks that impress you for a week and tanks that stick with you for years. The YachtVape Eclipse RTA, co-designed with Mike Vapes, falls squarely in the latter camp. I’ve taken two of these across East Africa and back, through heat, humidity, questionable border crossings, and even more questionable juice experiments — and they’re still kicking like a mule with a caffeine addiction.

I had the dual-coil version too, but honestly? It just didn’t hit the same. The original Eclipse is where the magic lives.

🌍 Battle-Tested and Bench-Approved

I use these every day. They’re my workhorses — dependable, flavourful, and stealthy enough to slip into a coat pocket when you’re dodging airport security or nosy family members.

But even the best gear shows wear. After years of daily use, the post screws on both of mine have started to wear down. Not a design flaw, just the price of heavy use. Occasionally, they’ll lose grip on the coil legs after a few days. Fortunately, you can access the screws without opening the tank, so tightening things up is a quick fix that doesn’t require draining or disassembly.

🧪 Tech Specs & Features

Diameter: 24mm

Capacity: 2ml (straight glass) / 3.5ml (bubble glass)

Build Deck: 4-slot postless deck (clockwise & counterclockwise friendly)

Airflow: Side honeycomb with deep intake chamber

Drip Tip: 810 wide bore, flared shape

Construction: Stainless steel and glass

Top Fill: Quarter-turn cap

Extras: Hidden horizontal hex screws, recessed wicking tunnels

Colours: Stainless, Matte Black, Gunmetal, Gold, Rainbow, etc.

🔧 Build Deck: Clean, Simple, Effective

The Recurve-style postless deck is designed for ease and performance. Whether you’re building clockwise or counterclockwise coils, they slot in easily and sit in perfect alignment with the airflow.

I run a 0.11-ohm custom alien in mine. It’s an aggressive build for a single-coil RTA, but this tank handles it with no complaints. The coil positioning is intuitive, the terminals grip well (when the screws are fresh), and the short wicking tunnels mean instant juice delivery — no dry hits, no ramp-up delay.

🌬️ Airflow That Knows Where to Go

The Eclipse doesn’t just blow air at your coil. It guides it. The deep honeycomb side airflow, paired with the recessed chamber design, hits the coil with laser precision and wraps around it like a goat in a blanket. Every puff is smooth, saturated, and full of nuanced flavour.

There’s just the right amount of restriction — it doesn’t choke you, but it makes you work a little. And that’s where the flavour lives.

🧵 Wicking & Refilling: No Fuss, No Floods

Short wicking tunnels and a well-balanced juice chamber make the Eclipse surprisingly easy to wick. Even at low ohms and high wattage, juice delivery keeps up like a champ. I’ve never had it flood, leak, or dry out unexpectedly — which is more than I can say for half the RTAs in my graveyard drawer.

Refilling is easy too. A quarter-turn top cap opens up to reveal generous fill ports. It’s fast, clean, and perfect when you’re on the move.

👄 Drip Tip: Weird, but Wonderful

I didn’t expect to like the included drip tip. It looks flared and a bit odd, like something off a water pipe. But after trying a few others, I came crawling back. It’s comfortable, it doesn’t get too hot, and the flared shape actually helps condense flavour without cutting airflow.

Go figure. Sometimes the weird ones win.

⚠️ Post Screw PSA

Let’s talk about the one real long-term issue: the post screws.

The Allen key that comes with the tank is the correct size, but after years of use, the screws on mine have worn down to the point where it now feels like the fit is off — it’s not.

When new, the screws were perfect. Smooth, secure, and easy to work with.

But over time, with build after build and a lot of torque, the heads have worn out. Now they sometimes slip and lose grip on the coil legs after a few days.

Thankfully, you can tighten or swap them out without disassembling the tank, which saves a lot of frustration.

If YachtVape ever makes a V2, updated screws and maybe a couple extras in the box would go a long way.

🧪 Old Goat’s Daily Eclipse Build

Coil: 0.11Ω Alien (Ni80, 3mm ID)

Legs: 5mm

Wattage: 60W

Cotton: OneCloud or Cotton Bacon Prime

Juice: Varies — this is one of my daily drivers for flavour

Tip: Let your wicks just kiss the deck — no stuffing needed

🐐 Final Verdict: Still King of the Single Coils

The YachtVape Eclipse is the single-coil RTA I always come back to. It's small, stealthy, flavourful, and damn reliable. If you’re a DIY mixer or just someone who wants honest flavour from a compact tank, this one earns its keep — and then some.

Pros:

✅ Flavour is off the charts
✅ Easy to build and wick
✅ Great airflow and coil placement
✅ Comfortable drip tip (despite how it looks)
✅ Fits both clockwise and CCW coils
✅ Re-tightening screws doesn’t require tank disassembly

Cons:

❌ Screws wear out with age
❌ Small juice capacity unless you use the bubble glass

🐐 Total Score: 10/10 (and still going strong)

Still GOAT-worthy. Still in daily rotation. Still waiting for YachtVape to drop a V2. Just give us some upgraded screws and call it a day — you already nailed everything else.
