Dead Rabbit V3 RTA Review – The Reliable Tank That Brings the Blizzard
Alright, herd — circle up. We’re talking about a true veteran of the RTA scene today: the Dead Rabbit V3 RTA by Hellvape. If you’ve built more than one coil in your life, chances are you’ve either owned this tank or been handed one by someone who swore it was “the last RTA you’ll ever need.” And they might not be wrong.
I’ve built on it, abused it, shelved it, and come crawling back to it more times than I care to admit. It’s not the flashiest, fanciest, or most flavour-forward tank out there — but it’s tough, it’s reliable, and it’s got a party trick that caught this old goat by surprise.
Specs & Tech Sheet for the Curious Goats
Diameter: 25mm
Height: 50.5mm (with drip tip)
Tank Capacity: 3.5ml (straight glass), 5.5ml (bubble glass)
Deck Style: Postless dual-coil
Airflow: Top-to-bottom, dual-slot adjustable
Material: Stainless Steel
Fill System: Quarter-turn top fill
Drip Tip: 810 wide bore
Connection: 510
Colours: Plenty – Black, SS, Gunmetal, Gold, Rainbow, and more
Build Quality & Design – Rugged, Refined, and Rabbit-Ready
Hellvape has had time to refine this one, and it shows. The machining is clean, everything fits together with a satisfying smoothness, and the deck design is as intuitive as it gets. It’s 25mm wide, which gives it a bit of girth, but it balances well on most dual-battery mods like my trusty Target 200.
The top cap is a quarter-turn and locks in securely. Knurling is grippy but not obnoxious. Branding is present, but subtle. It’s not trying to win a beauty pageant — it’s dressed like it’s here to work.
Build Deck & Wicking – Plug 'n Play for Cloudmakers
Postless dual-coil deck? Yes please. You don’t need to be a Jedi to install coils in this thing. The leads go straight in, snip the bottoms, and you’re good to go. The wicking wells are wide and forgiving — just trim your cotton to the edge of the deck and tuck it in. You’d have to try pretty hard to mess this up.
It works well with everything from chunky aliens to modest round wire. This is a tank that doesn’t care how fancy your build is — it just wants to fire.
Performance – And Now for the Magic Trick…
Let’s talk flavour. The Dead Rabbit V3 doesn’t hit the same peaks as high-end flavour bangers, but it gets damn close. Bakery flavours, creams, tobaccos — it handles them all with smooth delivery and decent saturation. The top-down airflow makes the vape warm and dense, without being harsh.
But here’s the rabbit’s hat trick: if you like ice, coolants, menthols, or anything with a polar punch, this tank turns it into a full-on tundra. I don’t know if it’s the airflow path or the chamber shape, but every icy mix I’ve tried in this RTA feels colder — like, nose-tingling, eyeball-squinting cold.
If you're the kind of vaper who mixes WS-23 into everything, this might just become your new best friend. It doesn't just preserve the cool — it amplifies it.
Airflow & Leak Resistance – Smooth Sailing and Bone Dry
The top airflow is the real hero here. It’s wide, adjustable, and leak-proof by design. You can run this tank sideways, upside down, in your pocket — and it’ll stay bone dry. No wet fingers. No sticky mod.
Fully open, the airflow is airy but a touch noisy — a little whooshy, but not obnoxious. Close it down and you’ll get a semi-restricted draw perfect for restricted DL or flavour chasing.
Daily Use – This Goat Keeps Coming Back
There are tanks with better flavour. There are tanks with more elegant designs. But few strike the balance of ease, durability, and everyday performance like the Dead Rabbit V3 RTA.
It’s the one I reach for when I just want a no-nonsense, mess-free vape. It’s the tank I trust when I’m leaving the house for the day and don’t want to carry extra tissues. It’s the tank I recommend to new builders — because it teaches without punishing.
Final Verdict – Not a Show-Off, Just a Damn Fine RTA
The Dead Rabbit V3 RTA isn’t revolutionary. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel. But what it does — and does brilliantly — is give you dependable performance, build after build, juice after juice.
It's a cloud-chucker. A menthol magnifier. A leak-proof daily driver that’s earned its place in the vape community’s collective rotation. If you're looking for that one tank you can rely on when your fancy gear is acting up, this is it.
Pros
Stupidly easy to build
Top airflow = leak-free
Cold flavours get colder — truly frosty
Good all-around flavour
Solid machining and clean threading
Great cloud production
Wide capacity with bubble glass
Cons
Flavour is good, but not top-tier for complex mixes
Slightly loud airflow at full open
Can feel bulky on smaller mods
The Old Goat’s Final Word:
This tank doesn’t care what coils you use, what juice you throw in, or whether you clean it every week or every month. It just vapes. And for an Old Goat like me, that’s worth more than any shiny gimmick.
Still building. Still freezing my lungs. Still Dead Rabbiting.
