Is shake and vape really a thing?

Hello everyone, I’m new to mixing but I keep seeing these recipes that are considered shake and vape. Everything i taste right after the shake or even an hour or so later tastes pretty much like nothing. Will the flavors come along in a week or so? Everything I’ve made so far smells amazing, it’s really a let down that they have no flavor.

Shake and vape is real, but it’s not a magic trick, RioMist. 🐐 Some flavors are bold enough to strut straight out of the bottle, others need time to put their hooves up and settle in.

Fruits, candies, mints → usually fine right away. They might sharpen or blend a little with a couple days, but you should taste something from the start.

Creams, custards, bakeries, tobaccos → forget it. Those stubborn goats need a week or three to stop kicking and start playing nice.

If everything you try right after mixing tastes like nothing, don’t panic — it doesn’t mean you mixed wrong. It just means your concentrates are the “slow cooker” type, not the “microwave snack” kind. Give them a week, then try again.

My advice:

Always test your mixes fresh and again after a week (and sometimes after a month if it’s heavy custards).

Keep notes on how they change — that’s how you’ll start to see the pattern with each flavor.

If you want instant gratification, stick to fruit-heavy recipes at first.

DIY isn’t about speed, it’s about control. Shake and vape is a thing, but it’s not the whole pasture. Patience is just part of the herd life.

I shake rattle and roll. Mostly on the floor. Lamictal helps. Haven't had a seizure since '08. Had them ever few days since my early 20's.
