Let us get the important bit out of the way first:
This is not a review. I have not had the Bonza Pro Mech Mod in my hands.
This is a look at what ThunderCloud has released, what appears interesting and what would still need to survive a proper bench test before earning the Old Goat’s blessing.
The Bonza Pro Mech is a collaboration between ThunderCloud and the Vaping Bogan. It is a 30mm side-fire mechanical mod built for 18650 and 21700 batteries.
According to ThunderCloud, the basic specifications are:
- 30mm diameter
- 80.5mm height
- 18650 and 21700 battery compatibility
- Side-fire mechanical switch
- Rotary safety lock
- Included 25mm, 28mm and 30mm beauty rings
- Brass, copper and stainless-steel versions
- Interchangeable decorative emblems
- Compatibility with an optional stacking extension
- ThunderCloud lifetime warranty
- Listed price range of $98 to $218, depending on material or bundle
What caught my attention
The three beauty rings are a genuinely sensible inclusion.
A 30mm tube can look ridiculous with a smaller atomiser perched on top like a bottle cap on a drainpipe. Being able to match 25mm, 28mm and 30mm atomisers neatly makes the mod far more useful without requiring three separate devices.
The rotary firing lock is another good idea—assuming it remains secure in real use. A mechanical mod needs a dependable lock, not a decorative suggestion that works loose in your pocket.
I am less excited by interchangeable emblems. They may be beautifully made, but an emblem has never improved voltage drop or stopped a switch from getting hot. Still, personalisation matters to collectors, and this is clearly being positioned as more than a bare metal tube.
The lifetime warranty is encouraging too, provided support remains available and the warranty covers the things an owner is actually likely to need.

What the brochure cannot tell us
With a mechanical mod, the important questions are not answered by glamorous photographs.
I would want to know:
- How hard and evenly does the switch make contact?
- What is the voltage drop under a realistic load?
- Does the side-fire mechanism develop hot spots?
- How quickly do the contacts collect carbon?
- Can the switch be stripped and cleaned without a small engineering degree?
- Is there battery rattle with both 18650 and 21700 cells?
- Are battery wraps protected properly during insertion and removal?
- Does the lock remain locked after weeks of carrying and use?
- How well do the different materials handle oxidation and everyday abuse?
- Are the threading and tolerances still good after repeated maintenance?
Those are bench questions, not brochure questions.
The stacking option also deserves a large warning label. Stacking batteries increases voltage and dramatically reduces the margin for error. It is not an exciting bonus feature for beginners. It is a specialist configuration for experienced builders who properly understand Ohm’s law, cell limits and the consequences of getting either wrong.
Who is it for?
On paper, the Bonza Pro looks worth investigating for experienced mechanical-mod users who appreciate solid materials, serviceable hardware and atomiser flexibility.
It is not for somebody buying their first vape. It is not a replacement for the protections found in a regulated mod. If terms such as continuous discharge rating, hard short and voltage drop are unfamiliar, admire this one from a safe distance.
My provisional verdict is simple:
Interesting design, useful size options and several very good ideas—but the switch, contacts, lock and tolerances will decide whether it is a serious mech or an expensive display stand.
This is exactly the sort of device that deserves a proper Old Goat bench session: stripped, inspected, measured, carried and used long enough for the marketing department to stop influencing the result.
That is when we find out whether the goat approves—or starts chewing the brochure.
